Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what we don’t collect when you use Memerio.
1. What We Collect
To make Memerio work, we process the following:
- Account identifier. When you sign in with Apple, we receive a stable but opaque user ID. We never see your Apple email if you choose to hide it.
- Voice recordings. The audio of your spoken diary entries is captured on your device. Depending on the AI model you select in the app, it is either transcribed locally by Apple’s Speech framework, or securely transmitted to OpenAI (Whisper) for higher-accuracy transcription. Audio is processed only to produce your transcript; we do not retain audio files on our own servers, and a temporary copy is kept on your device only until your entry has been successfully created.
- Diary content. The text of your transcribed entries, the AI-generated diary text, weekly and monthly summaries, and the illustrations and animations generated for those entries.
- Settings. Your selected writing style, language, AI model, emoji preference, and similar in-app choices.
- Diagnostics and usage analytics. We use Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to understand how the app is used in aggregate (for example, which screens are opened and whether a recording succeeded or failed) and to receive crash and performance reports. This data is anonymous, is not linked to your diary content or real identity, and is used solely to improve the app. We do not use it for advertising and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
2. Where Your Content Lives
- On your device. Diary text, illustrations, and animations are cached locally so the app works offline.
- In your private cloud space. The same content is mirrored to Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore for text, Cloud Storage for images and videos). Each user has an isolated namespace; nobody else, including us in normal operation, can read your space.
3. Third-Party AI Providers
We may share user-provided content — including your diary entries, voice recordings, and related content — with the following third-party AI providers:
This content is shared for the purpose of:
- Text generation
- Summaries
- Image generation
- Video generation
Which provider receives your content depends on the AI model you select in the app and the feature you use: text and summaries are generated by OpenAI, Anthropic, or DeepSeek; images are generated by OpenAI; videos (animations) are generated by MiniMax; and voice transcription, when the OpenAI model is selected, is performed by OpenAI (Whisper).
You are asked to consent to this sharing inside the app before any content is generated for the first time. We send only the content needed for each request. Per the contractual terms we’ve agreed to with these providers, your content sent through our API keys is not used to train their models. We encourage you to also review each provider’s own privacy policy linked above.
4. Apple Sign In
Sign in with Apple authenticates you to our Firebase backend. We receive a stable user ID and (optionally) an email address. If you select Apple’s “Hide My Email” option, we only ever see a relay email; we never see your real address.
5. What We Don’t Do
- We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers or data brokers.
- We do not use advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs (no Facebook SDK, no ad networks), and we do not track you across other apps or websites. The only analytics we use are Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics, for aggregate app improvement only (see section 1).
- We do not personalize ads — there are no ads.
- We do not access your diary content for any purpose other than delivering the app’s features to you.
6. Permissions We Request
- Microphone — to capture your voice recordings.
- Speech Recognition — to transcribe your voice into text on-device.
- Photo Library (Add Only) — only when you tap “Save to Photos” on a generated illustration.
We never ask for access we don’t need.
7. Your Rights and Controls
- Access and export. Use the in-app “Export my Book” feature to download your entire diary as PDF, EPUB, or DOCX.
- Edit and delete. Edit any entry inline; delete a single day or an entire period via the in-app menus.
- Account deletion. Menu → Delete Account permanently removes your diary text, images, animations, and account record from your device and from our cloud storage. This action is irreversible.
- Right to be forgotten / data requests. If you need anything beyond the in-app controls, email us at volostnovdm@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.
8. Children
Memerio is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect content from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.
9. Security
All traffic between the app, our proxy, and our backend providers uses HTTPS with modern TLS. Cloud storage at Firebase is access-controlled per-user with Firebase Security Rules — only the authenticated owner can read or write to their namespace. No system is perfectly secure; we encourage strong device passcodes and enabling iCloud account protections.
10. International Transfers
Memerio’s providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, DeepSeek, MiniMax, Google Firebase, Cloudflare) operate globally. Your content may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, subject to those providers’ standard contractual safeguards.
11. Retention
We retain your diary content as long as your account is active or until you delete it. Backups of deleted data may persist in Firebase for up to 30 days before being permanently purged by Google’s rolling backup retention.
12. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and surface a notice in the app on next launch. Your continued use of the Service after the update constitutes acceptance.
